Undercrown began at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, when Liga Privada grew too scarce for the rollers to smoke freely and they blended a cigar of their own. The Sun Grown, the line's third blend, shipped quietly ahead of the FDA's August 2016 deadline and was formally released in September 2017. Jonathan Drew said its sun-grown Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper took 15 years to secure.
